The All Saints East and St Luke seat became vacant when then Agriculture Minister Charlesworth Samuel died in January.

ST JOHN'S, Antigua - More than 3,000 electors the All Saints East & St Luke constituency will go to the poll Thursday to elect new representative to replace the late Member of Parliament Charlesworth Samuel, the former Minister of Agriculture, who died in January.

 

Samuel, who died at age 69, held the All Saints East & St Luke seat from 1994 until his death.

 

The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) said Wednesday it was prepared and ready to conduct the by-election in the constituency.

 

Three candidates – attorney Ralph Francis of the Organisation for National Development (OND), trade unionist Chester Hughes of the United Progressive Party (UPP), and businessman Steve Williams of the Progressive Youth Movement (PYM) – would be contesting the polls.

 

There are 3,304 electors eligible to cast their ballots, the ABEC said. Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.
