Bridgetown, Barbados, 10/04/2007 – Under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Liu Huanxing, Chinese Ambassador to Barbados, the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) will host a press launch titled “A Taste of Beijing,” on October 19, in celebration of its designation as an Official Broadcaster of the 2008 Olympics in China.
The press launch will highlight the CMC’s plans to deliver Olympic coverage via its communication services, which include: Radio, Television, Print, Satellite Uplink Distribution, & New Media.
The Ambassador, as host and honourary guest speaker of the event, will issue an address on media guidelines for coverage of the upcoming world games, in addition to enlightening the Caribbean region about the culture of Beijing, China.
CMC’s Chief Operating Officer, Errol Clarke, will reveal the CMC’s strategic plan for coverage of the world-class sports event. Mr. Clarke, who is also Project Manager for the Olympic undertaking, is currently in Beijing for the 2nd World Broadcaster’s Meeting in connection with the upcoming summer games.
In addition to Mr. Clarke and the Chinese Ambassador, Steve Stoute, Chairman of the Caribbean Association of National Olympic Committees (CANOC) will also issue an address.
The invitation only event will conclude the CMC’s 4th Annual Client Conference lineup of activities, which begin with a Cocktail & Awards Reception on October 17 at Sunbury Great House, and conference proceedings attended by regional media professionals at Sherbourne Conference Centre on October 18-19.
Others slated to attend include former and current Barbados Olympians, corporate clients, government officials, and representatives of sports organisations.
